The O-2 visa category is available to those accompanying the O-1 athlete and who are an “integral” part of the athlete’s event (s) or performance. Coaches, managers and/or trainers may be eligible for the O-2 if they can show that they have skills that are critical and essential to the O-1 athlete. TIP.

H-1B Visa for Sports-Related Occupations. The H-1B visa is available for someone coming to the United States for employment in a specialty occupation. The specialty occupation requires theoretical and practical application of a body of knowledge in professional fields and at least the attainment of a bachelor's degree, or its equivalent, as a minimum for entry into the occupation in the United States.
P-1 Visa: Athlete or Member of Athletic Team. The P1 visa is applicable to aliens entering the United States to perform at a specific athletic competition as an athlete, individually, or as part of a group or team, at an internationally recognized level of performance. Support personnel of P1 visa holders can also get a P1 visa.
